Best classic system ever

Postby Tónythegamer on Wed Jan 09, 2008 12:40 am

Let me start this section off. What do you think is the best classic system EVER, from the Atari 2600 to the Playstation 1.
Here's my choice, the SNES. Image
Why? Has best iterations of many ninty franchises, and the first of many of them. SMW, LoZ:ALttP, Super Metroid, and Super Mario Kart, F-Zero, Star Fox, and the Game Boy player.

I chose NES simply because it means so much to me. As the console that got me into gaming, it's easily one of the best consoles ever. SMB3 helps A LOT too.

Hell, I still have the NES... somewhere.

NES. It is just too good. SMB3, Zelda, Metroid, Probotector, Cobra Triangle, Little Nemo (oh god, VC NEEDS NEMO).. Too bad I borrowed all my games to family with lots of small children, but I guess they need them more. At least they won't become threedeetards with no respect to classics :shifty:

The NES itself is in very special place, and I clean the dust off it every now and then. Maybe someday it will come back to life.

There are too many classics to count.

Special place? The attic, I presume. Oh and I checked not long ago and I happen to have given my NES to my cousin (who are like 4). But I remember some games I had on it... I had SMB3 I know that for sure. I believe there was a McDonalds game in there (WTF indeed...) and a Star Wars game. I don't remember the rest.

The NES 100% for me. It was my first system, and Super Mario Brothers my first game. I spent endless hours trying to beat it (I was like, 6!) and even more hours playing that darn Duck Hunt game. I was SO addicted to it.

I also remember the first time I beat my Dad's high score on Dr Mario. Good times.

Well, the SNES has Chrono Trigger, so for me it wins by default. But seriously, so many of my memories are from that system (Chrono Trigger was my first RPG, so it was like magic; then there's Final Fantasy IV/VI, SMRPG, Zelda: aLttP, etc).

I'm gonna have to agree with this entire post. Except the beating dad's score thing. I never managed that, and I still haven't to this day...

My dad never really played video games... strange.

I've always been the gamer of the house, the supreme high-score setter etc.

really, wow, the NES is indeed winning, and noone heas voted for a nonnintendo console, is this a nintendo fan blog or something? I never knew...

anyways, the only reason i didn't vote the NES was that I didn't have one, ever, all i had was a bootleg SNES back in Mexico, and a genesis here. and I can't beat the original Zelda, IDK why?

I'd have to say old-school NES, even though I loved the Genesis and PS1. Those days of FFVII will never die...

...Yeah, I'd have to say the NES. My uncle spent a good seventy-two hours (washroom breaks aside ONLY) straight playing Tetris. The man is a genius in the ways of the Four-Block, and he has taught me everything I know.

I only need a copy of Tetris DS to prove my skillz. I will not fail you, Uncle.

For one, I can kick anyones in this blog a*s in Tetris (every time I play I get over 100,000.)

Second, you have to vote SNES just because it has the best game in all most series.

Mario- Super Mario All stars/ Super Mario World
Metroid- Super Metroid
Zelda- Link to the Past
Contra- Contra III
Final Fantasy- Final Fantasy VI
Mana Series- Secret of Mana
Chrono Series- Chrono Trigger
Kirby Series- Kirby Super Star
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Series- Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV: Turtles in Time
Gradius- Gradius III
Castlevania- Super Castlevania IV
Street Fighter- Street Fighter II: Turbo
Punch-Out- Super Punch-Out
Donkey Kong- Donkey Kong Country (I like 1 more than 2)
Mario RPG game- Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars
Yoshi game- Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island

Also there are great games that just aren't the best in their respective series or don't even have a series including the likes of...

Mega Man X
Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy Kong's Quest (in my opinion)
Super Mario Kart
Mega Man 7
F-Zero
Zombies Ate My Neighbors
Earthworm Jim
Rock 'N Roll Racing

and many more.

I have no idea why SNES isn't winning.
