Mario is best known for platformers, but his RPGs are also pretty top-knotch. Which one do you think is the best?

Personally, I like both Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga and Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door equally; Superstar Saga because it was just flat out hilarious and had such memorable characters, and The Thousand Year Door because it refined everything in the original Paper Mario and had a better story.

I'm not really qualified to respond, since the only Mario RPG I've played to any significantly degree (I've completed it, but haven't played more than 10 minutes in any other Mario RPG)... but I feel like I'd still choose the SNES one over the others, since it's the most 'traditional' out of them.

And it has Geno, who is one of my favorite characters of all time.

(My bro has all the Paper Mario games, so I really oughtta play them sometime :oops:

I love the Paper Mario series, but if somebody gives an answer besides Super Mario RPG, I will find you and hunt you down!

Don't get me wrong, Mario RPG was amazing, but I kinda liked the overworld platforming elements in the other games. Also, the inventory system was pretty bad IMO, especially since healing was a lot more frequent than the other games. I can see why many consider it the best Mario RPG (heck, it's the closest one to being a traditional RPG), but I feel that the original concepts were expanded upon to greater effect with the subsequent games.

That doesn't mean Mario RPG is my least favourite. In fact, I thought Partners in Time was very disappointing.
