Is it just the 40GB that ditched the backwards compatibility, or both current ones (40/80)? If the 80 has it, I can probably hold off until it gets more games/drops price...if it doesn't, then that might be strong incentive to buy from friend (it's a 60GB, and I think/assume he'll throw in Resistance (his one game)).

I think it is JUST the 40GB

If you get the 60GB it seems to be a better deal!!! Esp $300!!!

I'd get it ;)

Backward compatibility does add a lot to the PS3 because the PS2 had such an extensive library. But eventually, maybe a year later, that's not going to matter that much.

Yea, but It's just like why not!!

Seriously, I wouldnt want a PS2 and a ps3 connected, PS3 by itself would be miles better

Well, yea. Having just a PS3 would be better than having a PS2 and a PS3. Since the PS3 itself takes up so much room...

We can buy round bread over here. It's called something like "Milk Roll" and they taste great!

Well, I gave him the money for the PS3 last night...plan to pick it up tonight after work.

I hope/assume he's including the HDMI cable, since I think those can be kind of expensive. Question I have now, is do I buy Heavenly Sword?

And I don't think it will prepare food. Unfortunately.

(Round bread? Do donuts count?)

Do you feel like paying $60 for less than ten hours of gameplay?

Well, to a degree short play through can help replay value (doesn't take as long to feel like you're getting stuff done). Gears of War on the 360 is about a eight to twelve hour first-time play through (it's actually supposed to follow a time span of ten hours), but I've probably got around 40 offline hours out of it just replaying it on different difficulties and with different people.

Similar thing with God of War; about 12 hours to play through, but it's enough fun to want to play through again on harder difficulty. And Heavenly Sword is about the only PS3 game that I want to play (and I figured I'd buy used anyways).

Uncharted? I heard that was pretty awesome.

Ratchet and Clank?

They're the only good games I can seriously think of for the PS3...

EDIT: Oh and MotorStorm and Resistance.

Depends if you can get online. If you can, get motorstorm, or maybe Warhawk if you want. But the real must buy is Ratchet and Clank. I played over at my friends house, that made me want a PS3.
