MMO-games

Postby Kalava on Fri Mar 07, 2008 3:08 pm

Awwwww crap. After avoiding any MMO-games for.. very long time, now two promising ones are released at the same time.

First, open beta of Mabinogi. On the trailer it seemed interesting and different. Also, it's from Nexon, and I've liked their previous games.

Second, Monato Esprit. About a year ago, I found very fun game named Monato Esprit. However, they closed their servers, I didn't really look up why. But now they are starting up again with improved version, and I got into closed beta.. Yeeeah, I gotta try it out.

Both of those are downloading right now. Damn, I hope at least other one sucks, I don't want to get hooked on MMO after.. after so much I've accomplished.

Anyway, any of you play MMOs? There must be at least one WoW-gamer on every forum..

I used to be into MapleStory, but I kinda got bored of it after a while. Other than that, I really don't have much experience with MMOs.

I had actually played Monato Esprit before, but stopped. I also use to mess around on Flyff and Roseon (before that got out of BETA).

MMOs are fun. But just too much grinding for my liking.

I tried Everquest ages ago, hated it... played Final Fantasy XI for a month or two before realized I just wasn't having any fun (with how much time I did play, I should have atleast level 10 as my black mage).

I played Ragnarok Online for a few weeks... but failed to get hooked.

The only MMORPG (if it qualifies as MMO...) is Phantasy Star Online back on the Dreamcast (no monthly fee!). Now those were good times... playing with a friend until six in the morning, meeting said friend at school shortly after at ~7:30. The game was my life for a good while. My username at various message boards (variations of "Tank") came from the game (my RAcast character).

Sega needs to make a new PSO. Preferably on Wii; maybe under the whole "Wii Pay to Play" thing or whatever it's called.

My current username (Ceph, in case you haven't noticed ;)) exists since I got kinda tired of "Tank-*something*" at message boards... and my email address, but I haven't gotten around to changing that yet.

I haven't tried Everquest or FFXI (even though I got sent a free starter pack by SE themselves).

I usually stay away from MMORPGs. Unless someone can put out a game that pretty much eliminates the use of grinding and those stupid "hey fetch 50 of these monsters, kthxbi" quests and have no monthly fee (I hate those fees) then I'm all for it.

But as of now, I'll stick to my frenatic FPS' and more adrenaline fueled games. Not click on monster once to kill type games.

I usually avoid them.. It's hard to let go. And now I got two, and I enjoy them both. Damn it.

Monato Esprit is basically the same as before. It feels smoother now, but can't really say that much as servers were down earlier today.

Mabinogi.. That was fun. Combat system is the same old, click monster and attack, but there's some nice little touches. I enjoyed it. But besides combat, you can also make food, fish, do part-time-jobs, play music.. And I believe you can compose music too. I haven't found person who teach that, but I bough scroll that hint that way.. And I also heard someone playing Mario Bros. -tune at the town square, and I don't think Nexon has rights to that tune. There's a lot more, but I haven't played that much yet.

I really hope they get boring. I don't want to waste my time on them. But just because I enjoy them, doesn't mean I'm hooked.
