Most Anticipated Games this Year?

Postby Psychogoose on Sun Jan 04, 2009 12:04 am

2008? That's old news. Time to stop dwelling on the past and begin looking into the future. Post your most anticipated games this year here!

Wii:
Madworld
The Conduit
The House of the Dead: Overkill
Deadly Creatures
NPC Pikmin (if I haven't played it, it's new to me)
Klonoa Remake
Punch Out!!
Sin and Punishment 2

DS:
Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars
Scribblenauts
Pokemon Platinum
Rhythm Heaven
Mario and Luigi 3

XBox 360:
Resident Evil 5
Halo 3 ODST
Skate 2

There are a couple of other games that I am looking forward to, but right now I think I'll just wait and see how they turn out.

Sin and Punishment 2. I couldn't sleep the day/night it was announced. Seriously; I still get giddy even thinking about it.

Then there's The Conduit, Madworld, and Rygar.

I'll have Ar Tonelico 2 (PS2) hopefully by January's end; there's DQ X, FFCC:TCB, Monster Hunter 3, and the new Tales game, but I don't think any are confirmed for a 2009 US release. I may check out the Phantom Brave Wii port, as I haven't played the PS2 one; but never really found the necessary time to invest in strategy RPGs, so I may pass on it again.

I hope to buy one (or both) of the Idolm@ster games on the Xbox 360, but need to learn more Kanji to even comprehend what's being said; which is a minor point, as I'll also need much more money to purchase a Japanese console to even play it/them. And the Higurashi no Naku Koro ni DS games. There are also Gust's previous Atelier games that were never localized (Atelier Marie got a DS port (I think), so yay! DS region free). And the Haruhi Wii games; though I'll need to invest time in getting the Homebrew region free stuff working.

Import and Wii aside... there's Bayonetta (X360). Can't really think of anything else, but I haven't really tried looking to hard... the Wii's '09 lineup hurts my wallet enough as it is.

To add to the list: Prototype sounds like it could be pretty good. I'm still open to opinion on the new Batman game and the new Tenchu game. Oh and there's the new Street Fighter.

There's also FFXIII if it drops this year.

Oh yea, DSiWare hits this year too. Too bad I probably won't be picking up a DSi.

Heavy Rain is a PS3 exclusive. Which probably explains why several of you haven't heard of it; it's not exactly been hyped a lot. I only found out about it a few months ago.

It's known especially for it's graphics from what I can tell. I don't actually know much about the gameplay or story actually.

Heavy Rain preview @ kotaku

At first I was "meh" toward it, as the gameplay seems to consist of walking around and QTE action sequences... but then I remembered how much I somehow enjoyed Shadow of Destiny (PS2), and about all you did in that one was walk around (nothing more)... so yeah. That shoved me back up on the fence regarding Heavy Rain... need more info to judge.

I'd be much more interested if I actually had a PS3.

Bioshock 2 should come out this year too. I think.
Looking forward to that.

For anyone into RTS' there's also Starcraft II.

Mass Effect 2 is one I'm looking forward to as well (apparently it's going multi-platform).

And who can forget Double Fine's Brutal Legend featuring Jack Black.

There are a bunch of other games I'm looking forward to, but I haven't played a lot of the previous games in their respective series, so I don't know If I'd be in to those types of games. I will, however, play Bioshock as soon as March is over, because the new games this month and next month are pretty much the cleaning crew for my wallet and gaming time.

February
House of the Dead: Overkill
Star Ocean
GTA IV: Lost and Damned
Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection

March
Pikmin
Madworld
GTA Chinatown Wars
Pokemon Platinum

My birthday will ease the pain.

I just saw the advert for HotD:Overkill on TV, it was awesome.

And the GTA DLC is coming out next week too! Although it costs a hefty 1600 points.

Good thing the Left 4 Dead Survival Pack is free.
