Nintendo's E3 2009 press conference: Recap, commentary, etc.

Postby PsychoDuck on Tue Jun 02, 2009 11:13 pm

"After last year's E3, people had lost much of their faith in Nintendo. The script was pretty crummy, the announcements were sparse, and what was announced (Animal Crossing: City Folk) wound up being somewhat underwhelming when it landed in stores that November. Surely this E3 would have to be better than last year's event... Right?"

Okay, I think I'm done writing for today... Unless Miyamoto's roundtable pulls back the curtain on even more awesome stuff.

...I'm not sure if I could handle more excitement!

Surely you cannot be serious!

Well, actually you can.

I personally thought this was their best showing since 2006. While it's a little unfortunate that the 2 best games shown aren't coming out for the holiday season, there's still a lot of games out to keep me satisfied. I'm probably the only guy in the world who doesn't own New Super Mario Bros., but I've played it enough to know that the sequel will be even better. I'm hoping there's online co-op, but I won't keep my hopes up.

It's a shame that there are still people who complain about the press conference when most of those people wanted a new Mario or Zelda, but I guess it's their loss.

Also, Yoshi has been platforming in Yoshi's Island DS and Super Mario 64 DS, unless you are referring to Adult Mario riding Yoshi.

I was more referring to riding Yoshi, yeah. I'll go see what I can do about clarifying that.

And all these people underwhelmed by this... Seriously, go do something else with your life, because if this wasn't enough for you, I don't think anything ever will be. No Zelda, big whoop. Two new Marios and a Metroid more than make up for that.

I think Miyamoto confirmed there's NO ONLINE CO-OP in NSMB for Wii during the roundtable thing.

But I'd have to agree that this year's conference was infinitely better than last year's.

Oh and Duck, when the Metroid trailer started I had the same reaction you did: "Could this be? STARFO- OH WAIT."

I sure wish I played more Metroid games, because then maybe I'd remember who the hell that guy in your avatar is.

I'm really not quite sure myself, I've only ever seen that dude in the Other M trailer, but I like the GIF

From what I've heard, not even hardcore-Metroid fans seem to recall who the heck that guy is. Seems like it's just one of those parts of something that makes no sense... Like the Vitality Sensor announcement. Well, maybe it'll make more sense when we get our hands on it... Like the Vitality Sensor.

...although our hands will be in that, not on it. Whatever.

I'd be quite impressed if you manage to fit your whole hand in there without breaking it.

He could be just one of Adam's men, but then "remember me" wouldn't make much sense for a first appearance.

Many believe he could be Sulyx.
