Twitter

My dad asked me today what Twitter was, and I explained to him that it is a site were you can post about what you are doing and learn what your friends are doing. Basically typing out your status for the world to see.

Then I proceeded to show him the video on Twitter that explains what the site is.

He thinks it is the stupidest thing he has ever seen.

What is your opinion of Twitter?

It's kind of neat to be able to read about what others are doing in quick updates, but I could probably live without it. Darth Vader and God are my favourite people to follow on Twitter.

I bang out a few short messages a day, usually blabbing about whatever I'm writing or playing, whatever the case may be. I also do a lot of responding to other people. It's a fun little thing to have sitting on your toolbar (Gotta love TwitterFox), but I wouldn't say it's the best freaking thing ever.

When I have to explain it to someone, I call it a "micro-blogging" service. Since most people know what blogs are, I explain that instead of writing one large article in one go; you make shorter more-controlled articles more often.

And I've got to say, I like the concept - it's different. It's great if several people need to know where you are almost constantly. Connect your phone to twitter and instead of texting everyone, they can just check your twitter feed!
