I didn't get to play Red Steel as extensively as I would've liked due to wanting to catch some developer sessions and the fact there were quite a few people waiting to play it too. It seemed to deliver on the promises on the first Red Steel though, actual sword combat that is good. And instead of only using it in certain set-pieces (and even then, randomly flailing was the dish of the day), you can use it anytime and chain together some awesome combos. It was a great idea to go with M+.

Monster Hunter was there too, but not too many people were playing that it seems. :S

Oh and tried out New Super Mario Bros Wii and it's pretty fun to play with friends. The competitive co-operative gameplay is really there, we spent most of the time trying to kill each other but when we got to a stage we couldn't get through we worked together to get to the end. Didn't see the Super Guide though.

I don't think you missed much with Super Guide. I, however, will probably be seeing that green block time and time again :ack:

I wanted to see how it would play itself, and it was more out of curiosity anyway. If I actually got the game I would probably never use it.

Couple misc. things:

Horribly ticked my friend off at BlazBlue the last week. He used to play 5+hours a night, at least 5 nights a week for several months. I play whenever I go to his house (or vice versa, usually once a week). I generally hold my own. Last week, he learned to stop spamming Noel's down-D (2D, if you prefer) as a combo opener; it now leads to his punishment :D. Highlight of that night, however, was he launched me into the air for an aerial combo ending with Noel's air distortion, I did a barrier burst right before the distortion (barrier burst is like of a once a match thing to definitively break out of someone's combo, but you take more damage for the rest of the match). It knocks him out of the distortion, and he falls to the ground where I finish him off. Lot's of WTF exclamations on his part, while I'm laughing my head off.

It didn't help his spirits that I had won probably five out of every seven matches

Today: I'm at said friends house, playing BlazBlue against another friend who uses Rachel (I use Taokaka, btw). I keep beating him (he doesn't play often), he keeps saying rematch. He had been drinking alcohol, so I eventually said "Can I change characters now?" To which he responded "No! You play Tao!" while signaling with his bottle. Some of the beer "hops" out of the bottle, and into above mentioned friend's surround receiver, and it shuts off. Immediate Oh F*** moment. Luckily, after a few minutes it would turn back on and seemed to function normally *whew*

And I bought The Sky Crawlers and Ghost in the Shell 2.0 on Blu Ray :D

(and did I mention how amazing Mana Khemia's buildup/conclusion was? It's like... still on the top of my mind :o)

I go to take JLPT 4 test today which is why I haven't been here in the past couple weeks; been trying to study as much as I can, even though I'm not too concerned with the difficulty of this level :P

I was hoping to get myself a tie, so I could look a bit more professional for the test, but nobody had the tie I wanted in stock :(

Finally got my Christmas tree today. After a few years of fake ones we decided to go get an actual, living tree again. The fake ones always broke, and they were a pain to store. So we get the tree home in my dad's car's trunk (He jokes that he can easily fit two bodies in there when he needs to... Or at least I think he was joking), then haul it through the building's front hall, through the apartment, and onto the balcony temporarily, then we clean up all the needles (The landlord hates us enough already). It needs a trim, but that's alright, we have a saw.

...wait, we have a saw, don't we? CRAP, WE DON'T HAVE A SAW

My sister asks a neighbour if he has a saw, and he hands us this little thing, saying he has more in the garage if we need it...

...and then the saw breaks. So we dig out a similarly small and wimpy saw, and it doesn't do the job, either. The neighbour comes back with the MOTHER OF ALL HANDSAWS, and we FINALLY get the tree trimmed down, and take it into the house.

...but the trunk was cut too short, so it doesn't sit in the stand. So we take it BACK OUT ONTO THE BALCONY and cut off all the lowest branches. So now it will FINALLY sit in the stand.

...but the stand is being a jerk, and the tree won't stand straight. So we pick it up, lift it out, and put it back down in the stand. Nope. Again. Nope. Once more? Nope, still not straight. Ah, screw it, we'll deal with it tomorrow. I hope we have enough garland to cover the lack of branches at the bottom.

Oh, the fun of real trees. My parents decided to pass on the joy of bringing one home this year, and busted out the fake one my mom bought a few years back; while real is infinitely better (looks better, the smell lingers awhile... good stuff :) ), it's probably for the better: two of our dogs decided they want to chew things this year, and they'd probably eat a real tree (still concerned about them eating the fake  ).

And my dad used to put bodies in the trunk all the time; then again, there's no other way to fit a family of 7 into a Pontiac Firebird :P

(And Apple's Magic Mouse, when combined with a few custom software things, is fantastic. Tap the mouse with three fingers to middle click, two-finger swipe to move between tabs... all in the quest to MOVE AS LITTLE AS POSSIBLE while web-surfing )

I think I actually like this tree, despite the issues we had with it on Sunday. It's a short little fat thing, that finally decided to stand up straight. There's something like a 10 degree bend in the very base of it, so it wasn't the stand's fault. It's just a strange little tree. But strange is good sometimes, right?
