The board is way too big imo.

Have a suggestion for a new board or something? Post your ideas here.

The board is way too big imo.

Compact it. I've dealt with a lot of forums, and having lots of separate areas leads to inactivity.

Like, all those separate gaming forums are TOTALLY unnecessary. I would personally put all Gaming into a single forum until you see there is a need to expand. Start low. Introductions and Site Help could easily go together. User Creations should go into Offtopic Postings.

This is just a suggestion, but I strongly recommend it. From all of my experience, I will assure you my advice is sound.

I understand your concern, NFK. I've been considering compacting the forums as such. However, it doesn't seem to be affecting activity or anything like that at all.

I don't think it's exactly broken, so I'm not going to fix it.

No Duck, don't do it. (edit: now I see your post where it says you won't do it)

If you combine all game sections into one; flaming starts to happen.
Also I like all the specific places; it makes it much easier to find an article you want to look at.

I can see both sides of the argument here. NFK has a point that at this current moment we may not need so many areas.

But ryan has a good point too, it is a lot more easier to find topics if the forum is split thusly.

So, I guess in the short run: Compact the forums.
In the long run: Just leave it. If it's not broken, don't fix it, right?

Your call, duck.

I'm gonna keep it as is. That way, if things ever really pick up here, I won't have to build a whole bunch of boards to accommodate.

Oh, and I know for a fact that we'll be seeing a post in User Creations very soon...

It involves a duck, and is by a forum member that isn't me.

It's obviously your forum but I don't see the reasoning behind making unnecessary separations.

When a new user comes to a forum, a ton of different sections is very intimidating and I am personally always discouraged from posting right for the start, certainly when most of the sections are inactive or slow.

This is a very mature community I'd imagine, so flaming shouldn't be an issue. The forum I frequent has a very compact design, although you don't have to go that extreme.

Here is the link: bdc.clan.pro

Look at it and tell me what you think of the design. It doesn't have to be like that, but I think a more minor revision of the forum layout would seriously help the forum's activity. This site is already growing quickly, and a nice boost would do good. It wouldn't even have to permanent, just a trial run to see if everyone hates/likes it, and see if it does any good/harm. That's what I usually do to test the waters in a new forum.

I'll make a different, less extreme suggestion:

-Rules
-Announcements
-Introductions
-Site Help
_
-Article Discussions
-Suggestions (for site and forum)
_
-Nintendo Gaming
-Sony Gaming
-Microsoft Gaming
-General Gaming (classic, pc, other, general, console wars)
_
-Offtopic Discussion
-Random Idiocy
-User Creations

I will can tell you with 100% certainty that classic gaming, pc gaming, other gaming, and console wars will never see enough activity to warrant separation. Together though, they form a strong forum and can cause riveting discussions and debates.
