Those last levels are ripe with EXTREME DIFFICULTY.

You never beat Super Mario Bros. 3 before?

I have, just not since the NES was still the 'in' thing :P

And it's completely awesome to play the game with someone who hasn't really played many games since the NES (except for his brief time with the N64). Laughing at each others demise, sharing the pain of an ill timed jump... fun times

Just got the last character on Street Fighter IV... well, almost. Have all the characters except the last [s]bastard[/s] boss guy.

Trying to focus now on getting good (and I mean good) with a single/few character/s, so I can beat up some people online. So far, focusing on Chun Li... I usually play Ryu as my primary SF guy, but Chun Li's combo stuff seems to be more fun/challenging. Gouken seemed kinda nifty too.

Can't stand C. Viper though, as or against. I'm sure I'm gonna hate her even more online.

*obligatory Seth rant, coming to a SCREAM THREAD near you!*

Haha, I've still yet to play SFIV. It looks really good, it's just that I'm not that good at fighting game (frankly I sucked pretty badly at Tekken 5).

It has a sort of "training" thing (hidden in the Challenges, rather than "training"... figure that out) that seems like it'd do pretty well teaching you basics (moves and their uses, combo basics and so on). I can't really speak about how well they work, as I'm already fairly good at Street Fighter in general; I just need to learn the combo stuff, as it's something I never had to need to learn (no bragging intended, but I never had anyone to play on my level... am looking forward to online play changing that  ).

I don't remember if you have a PS3, but if you do, and if you buy it there, I'll gladly [s]beat you up[/s] help you get the hang of it :D

(I'm actually thinking about trying to give my friend a sort of "crash course" in hopes he'll get competent enough to fight on a regular basis :P; he did get hyped up on SF the one night we played and watched the Street Fighter Alpha anime movie when he went home; and said we should go see the Chun Li movie :| )

Haha, I don't have a PS3 but I would take you up on the offer if I did. :D

I may just consider picking up depending if I have money to spend or not. To be honest, I prefer fighting arcade machines (in arcades preferably); you just can't get the same atmosphere you have at the arcades when you're at home.

Haha, I don't think I'm gonna watch the Chun Li movie - although I'll probably end up watching the Dragonball movie simply because, putting it nicely, it "intrigues" me.

I've love arcades too, but they're too friggin' hard to find around where I live. Gameworks (about 15 minutes away) used to be amazing (two or three shmups, a corner of fighting arcades (like 10 cabinets, several of which were different Capcom fighters, Tekken... they even had a crappy Sonic fighting game!), awesome 8 (!) player racing thing)... but now there's more emphasis on the gun arcades and racers... any/all fighter representation was squared solely on a single Capcom VS. thing

It also doesn't help that the PS3 arcade sticks seem to be sold out until late March.

I'll likely see it too. It feels almost... mandatory, somehow. Like, in an "I almost bought a toy scouter for the lulz" kinda way.

You think the movie's $ intake will get above... well. You know.

Haha count yourself lucky! I practically have no arcades whatsoever near me, the closest ones are next to the beach and they mostly contain coin-operated machines so can't really be called arcades. Sure they have some DDR and maybe some time-crisis but it's almost saddening when I think about the lack of arcade-awesomeness near me.

/rant

But anyway, yea. When is it coming out anyway? I haven't bothered looking up the release date.
Off-topic: Oh and TeamFourStar's DBZ: TAS is awesome. Ep 8 came out today. :D

I'm kinda sucking at SFIV at the moment (I get pissed off when I lose to Seth ON EASY >_>), so I gotta practice more xD.
I just beat RE5 a few days ago, and I gotta say, I think I enjoyed this more than 4 IMO. Nothing really specific as in why I like it better, it's just more of a complete package, as in co-op, and the awesome-er Mercenaries mode :)

I still haven't played RE5, it's mainly due to me not really liking the clunky controls especially when transitioning from Left 4 Dead - where shooting and moving controls are really tight. I guess I was hoping in this iteration they could make it so you could move while shooting but it just didn't happen, it's part of the core gameplay mechanics of RE games it seems. It just seems ludicrous that a trained agent can't move while shooting.

Anyway, I'm rambling.

About the last game I've beaten, I've almost gotten all the achievements on L4D. Only one remains: Nothing Special. And that's the one I want to get most, but as anyone who knows about the achievements; Nothing Special is INSANE.

Yeah, Seth's messed up. To unlock the characters (if you haven't already), I'd suggest playing on easiest, and just jump kick/sweep him... so long as he doesn't get a lucky knock down on you, you'll be good :P. I'm still too intimidated to try him on anything past Medium

Who do you mainly play as? :D (I feel I'm pretty nifty with Chun Li, but am working with Cammy too)

El Fuerte and Ken are my mains :)
I'm trying to learn Sagat's moves also, because people kick my butt w/ him all the time online lol

I think I have yet to beat an El Fuerte online... little bugger's fast and hard to predict :x

The other character I've had trouble against is Balrog but I think that's mainly because I've only fought one or two, so not much to learn from. First Vega was tough, but quickly learned Chun Li's straight jump + hard kick shuts his aerial game down :D

(EDIT: Correction: I just beat an El Fuerte, though barely :))

I barely got beaten by a GOUKEN when I was playing w/ Fuerte online today ^_^.
Barely getting beaten by him is like winning against everyone else :D
(And I love that I got this game for free from Joystiq.com ^_^)
I'm also about to play thru RE5's co-op with a couple of friends, so we'll see how that is. I also unlocked Chris and Sheva's second outfits (Which ROCK :D)

I just faced a Gouken that totally owned me the first match, and barely beat me the next... I'd have beaten him if it was 3/5

I completely forgot that Gouken doesn't have a dedicated anti-air move (no shoryuken, etc_), though I suppose his down-back kick thing could've sufficed if I pressed him on it. Perhaps I'll have a chance to find out someday :D

Just as something to say, the past couple months I've played through:

Resident Evil 5 (not spectacular; fun co-op, but that's about it. Lackluster finale, but the Mercenaries mode thing is pretty good fun solo or co-op (preferably co-op))

Resident Evil 0 (Not as tense as the other pre-RE4 titles, but had a rather satisfying end fight :) )

The Conduit (meh story, but lots of fun regardless. Has some rather punishing times if you're not on your toes (I played on 'Elevated" difficulty))

Metroid Fusion (again, while at Anime-Expo. Great way to pass the time :D )

Super Mario Bros. 2 (played through taking turns with a friend. Never played through it before, and it can really DESTROY you later on)

Which Super Mario Bros. 2? The US or Japanese version?

Anyway, the last game I beat was probably Prototype. A lot of fun, and challenging as hell. I think Penny Arcade put it best:

YOU CAN KARATE KICK A HELICOPTER. WHAT MORE DO YOU WANT?

Pfft. Japan SMB 2 gives me nightmares. I stick with the cute 'n cuddly US SMB 2.

Prototype looks pretty cool (and yeah, I do actually want to karate kick a helicopter), but my budget won't accommodate as many games as it used to :(

(Perhaps a rental soon!)

I wanna be the guy gives me nightmares.

It is a good game, definitely worth a rental at least. It's just so satisfying to be able to run around a city like a total bad-ass. Free-running is really fun (and exceptionally easy, you can practically run anywhere just by holding one button.

The only thing I don't like is the city. It seems bland and could use some work. It's times like these that I wish Rockstar would loan out Liberty City to other developers. But it doesn't really matter when you're whizzing past the city most of the time I guess.
