The First Game You Ever Played?

Ahh, I remember it like it was yesterday. My dad comes in the door with an NES (This is '96) and about 40-50 games. I was 3 at the time, so I didn't really understand all the doo-dads that he brought, until I came face to face with the wonderful cover of my favorite superhero's game, Batman: The Game. I tore my brother away from the television in sheer hope that I would discover a new world to explore. I placed the cartridge very timidly in the system and pressed power. My tiny little hands were holding the controller tightly as I became Batman, fighting through waves of baddies. I'll never forget that moment, and that game (It's still a pretty good game!) And after that I played SMB, and the rest is history....
So that was my very overdrawn account of my first game I ever played. What was yours?

After watching my brother play Super Mario Bros. for what seemed like months he finally gave my the controller, and about 3 seconds later the first goomba in the game killed me.

Haha, nice. I'm not sure if it's the first game I've played, but the earliest recollection of playing games is on the NES. SMB3.

It was awesome. Even though I was 6/7~ish at the time so I sucked pretty bad at the game.
We also had a C64 laying around with Pacman on so I'm not sure if I had played that before playing SMB3. :S

My parents got an NES for a wedding gift, so we've had it in the house since day 1. I'm not sure about the first game...probably SMB or Duck Hunt.

Well, my dad got an NES for the house before I was born, so I'm not quite sure which game it was I played first. Probably either Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 3, Tetris, Dr. Mario, or Duck Hunt.

How old were you guys when you played your first game? I was about 3, and I kicked butt on SMB and Batman: The Game. I guess you game better if you learn early ^_^

Earliest game I can recall playing is the original Super Mario Bros. Earliest game I can vividly recall playing is Astyanax. I also remember entering random characters into the Game Genie in Astyanax, resulting in first level enemies flying in downward angle instead of their usual straight right -> left path.

For some reason that's insanely hilarious.

Haha, oh yea the Game Genie. I remember getting Infinite lives and Moon Jumps in SMB3.

Those were the times...

Super Mario Land was my first game. After watching one of my friends play Pokemon Blue, I just had to have a GameBoy. Ironically, I didn't get Pokemon until a year later, but after that, I couldn't get enough of it.

Back in the days my friends and I would trade and battle with that clunky Link cable system. I swear, we take wireless connection for granted nowadays, because that Link cable could fall out from a simple pull. One time my friend tried to blow into the end of the cable to see if it would work.

Now that I'm thinking about it, I also "discovered" a Game Genie code for Great Greed on the Game Boy... just went through the letters "0, 1, 2... A, B, C" and I can't remember the exact results, but it was either level up quickly, or just plain super powered character. It screwed up some of the end dialog for some reason though... dialog that was absolutely crucial when you have to marry your choice of several princess, or even the king himself.

The game is really good though. If any of you decide you need to play a Game Boy game you've probably never heard of, hunt it down.

i think it was Soccer on a bootleg NES back in Mexico. I know, I'm ashamed too. That bootleg NES had over 100 games, but about only half of those were playable. Boy, I remember playing Track and Field, Duck Hunt, and of course, SMB when I had it. I only played those four games. That was about the 6th to the 8th years of my life, before I moved here. From then on, I got a Game Boy, and played the heck out of Tetris and Pokemon Yellow, and I still have those games.
